{"id":361,"date":"2009-07-01T17:28:42","date_gmt":"2009-07-01T06:28:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rachaelturk.com\/?p=361"},"modified":"2009-07-01T17:28:42","modified_gmt":"2009-07-01T06:28:42","slug":"long-live-lumina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rachaelturk.com\/?p=361","title":{"rendered":"long live Lumina!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aftrs.edu.au\/\">The Australian Film Television and Radio School <\/a>has continued its &#8220;rethink&#8221; of the screen sector with the launch of its new film journal <em>Lumina<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rachaelturk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/lumina-11-1-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rachaelturk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/lumina-11-1-1.png\" alt=\"lumina1\" title=\"lumina1\" width=\"139\" height=\"221\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-364\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>David Stratton cut the tape on what is a dedicated space for examination and rumination on the current state of the Australian screen sector \u2013 in particular, as the cover implies, the nexis between art and industry. <\/p>\n<p><em>Lumina<\/em>&#8216;s editorial team comprises AFTRS CEO Sandra Levy, Head of Business Studies David Court, Head of Screen Studies Karen Pearlman and yours truly. The leading essay is by Baz Luhrmann.<\/p>\n<p>Other contributions to the 180-page publication include select transcripts from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rachaelturk.com\/category\/friday-on-my-mind\/\">Friday on My Mind<\/a>, as well as from Andrew Urban&#8217;s The Knowledge, genre essays including David Stratton\u2019s &#8216;Origins of Horror&#8217;, and Vincent Sheehan&#8217;s argument for &#8216;Why Australian Producers Should Think More Like Distributors&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Stratton welcomed <em>Lumina<\/em> as a \u201cjournal that is provocative, insightful and entertaining.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>Lumina<\/em> will be sold at selected bookshops.
